OUR FOUNDER AND PROGRAM DIRECTOR
KERRI KENDER

Kerri is a Queens-based educator, mindfulness practitioner, stress-reduction coach, and social work professional in training with more than a decade of experience in New York City public schools. She has taught in both general and special education classrooms and has led schoolwide work in mindfulness, social-emotional learning, and trauma-informed care. That blend of teaching and wellness is at the heart of Vibe Tribe: kids get space to move, breathe, and settle, real support with learning through after-school homework help, and the chance to build the social skills that come from learning alongside peers in a group setting.
She is also the founder of Mindfulness Education for Children, which partners with schools and community groups on enrichment programs, parent workshops, and training for educators. Kerri is completing her Master of Social Work and remains focused on giving children practical tools for focus, resilience, and emotional awareness so they can thrive both in the classroom and in the rest of their day.
CODY KIRK

Cody Kirk is excited to help bring mindfulness practices to youth in schools. He first became passionate about meditation in high school, when he began learning about Buddhist teachings. In college, he learned meditation under the guidance of a Sri Lankan Buddhist monk and eventually taught it himself. During that time, he traveled to Sri Lanka to further his study and practice. Since then, he has made meditation or mindfulness part of his daily life.
Cody believes the early years of childhood are incredibly formative, and that children benefit greatly from learning to identify and regulate their feelings while staying present and grounded. He is a licensed therapist in Minnesota and has extensive experience teaching meditation and mindfulness. As a therapist, he has worked with school-aged children, adolescents, families, and adults in a variety of settings, and he uses that training to inform best practices for teaching youth the tools of mindfulness. Some of his most challenging work was in intensive outpatient programming with teens struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. That work was also the most impactful in showing him the important role of mindfulness. Through teaching mindfulness skills, he witnessed amazing positive changes in the lives of others.
